Founding Principal

To help people pursue what matters most in their lives, Cam founded Cameron Thornton Associates in 1982 - a Registered Investment Advisory and Financial Consulting firm located in Burbank, California.

Cam’s aim through his professional career has been to help people keep the promises that they have made to themselves. He guides them through a process which allows them to bridge what they own, and what they believe. He does this by combining The Wealth Development System™, his unique wealth growth and preservation solution, with the family-first planning philosophy of The Heritage Institute.

Cam’s focus on helping people’s dreams to thrive from one generation to the next was the inspiration for partnering with co-author Rod Zeeb to write the novel, What Matters.

Cam was named to Bloomberg Wealth Manager’s Top Wealth Manager List when Cameron Thornton Associates was a SEC Registered Investment Advisory firm from 2001 through 2008.*

Cam was educated at the University of Southern California, where he received a BA in Psychology in 1976. Upon graduation from college, he spent four years as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy. He went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from the University of La Verne School of Business and Global Studies in 1983 as well as the Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 1986.

Cam has an over 35 year history of giving his "time, talent, and treasure" to the Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center where he has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors. *Disclosure of Methodology Related to 2008 Wealth Manager Survey - For the 2008 survey, Wealth Manager has used virtually the same system for collecting and organizing the data as it has in past years. Firms are ranked by average Assets Under Management (AUM) per client.

Participation - Firms must be registered investment advisors with their own IARD/CRD numbers. Half of their clients must be individuals or high-net-worth individuals as defined by the SEC. The firms are also required to offer financial planning services. Banks, brokers/dealers and trust companies were not eligible.

Formulas - Total AUM - This figure includes discretionary and non-discretionary assets under management as defined by Form ADV, plus various other assets not reported on Form ADV for which firms received a management or advisement fee as of December 31, 2007.

There are also other information related to Client Relationships, Average AUM per client, Minimum Annual Fee per Client/Minimum AUM per Client and Number of Professionals/Number of Support Personnel
